How Roofing Insurance Claims Really Work (And How We Help You Through It)
by Brown Boys Roofing – Northwest Arkansas’ #1 Roofer
Let’s be honest—filing a roofing insurance claim is no one’s idea of a good time. Between confusing paperwork, waiting on adjusters, and worrying whether your insurance will actually cover anything, it’s enough to make your head spin. That’s where we come in.
At Brown Boys Roofing, we’ve helped hundreds of homeowners in Northwest Arkansas navigate the insurance process from start to finish. We’re not just roofers—we’re guides, advocates, and partners every step of the way.
Here’s what the roofing insurance process really looks like (and how we make it easier for you).
Step 1: Storm Damage Happens (and You Panic Just a Little)
Whether it’s hail, wind, or a surprise tree branch—storm damage can happen fast. The good news? You don’t need to know exactly what happened to your roof. That’s what we’re here for.
What you should do:
-
Take a deep breath.
-
Call Brown Boys Roofing for a no-hassle inspection.
-
Avoid climbing on your roof (seriously—it’s dangerous).
Helpful Resource:
Read FEMA’s guide to wind and hail damage to understand how storms affect your home.
Step 2: We Inspect Your Roof for Damage
We’ll come out and do a thorough inspection of your roof, gutters, vents, and everything in between. If we see signs of storm damage that could be covered by insurance, we’ll walk you through the next step.
You’ll get:
-
Photo documentation of the damage
-
An honest assessment of whether it’s worth filing a claim
-
Straight answers with zero pressure
Step 3: You File the Claim (With Our Support)
If we believe you have a valid claim, we’ll help you contact your insurance company and get the process started.
We’ll help you:
-
Provide the right language to use when reporting damage
-
Schedule the adjuster meeting
-
Know what to expect before the adjuster arrives

Step 4: The Insurance Adjuster Comes Out
This is the part where a representative from your insurance company inspects your roof to confirm the damage.
We’ll be there. Why?
So we can advocate for you, point out the damage we found, and make sure the adjuster doesn’t miss anything. You don’t have to go it alone—we’ve got your back.
Step 5: You Get Your Insurance Estimate
Once your insurance approves the claim, they’ll send you an estimate and initial payment. This is called the ACV (Actual Cash Value), which is the depreciated value of your roof.
Later, after the work is complete, you’ll receive the second portion called the RCV (Replacement Cost Value), which covers the full cost to replace the roof (minus your deductible).
We’ll explain:
-
What’s covered
-
What you’re responsible for
-
What your deductible means
-
How final payments are processed
Step 6: We Get to Work
Now the fun part: replacing your roof with the same care and quality we’ve built our name on. We’ll protect your home and yard, keep you updated, and make sure the job is done right.
No shortcuts. No surprises.
Step 7: Final Paperwork & Insurance Payment
Once your new roof is installed, we send the final invoice to your insurance company. They’ll issue the remaining funds, and you’re all set.
You’re Not Alone in This
Most homeowners go through the insurance process only once or twice in a lifetime. We do it every single day. That’s why we’re committed to walking with you—not just through the roofing job—but through the whole process.
You’ve already been through a storm. You don’t need a second one with your insurance company.
